The new record for peak luminosity at the Large Hadron Collider is now 4.1 MHz/barn or 4.1/μb/s or 0.13 /fb/year.
Update: The LHC beam teams are now celebrating the delivery of 1/pb of accumulated luminosity, which is a 1000th of their target for 2011. This slide is from their morning meeting on Saturday, although the milestone was reached at 9am Sunday.

Wow, I appreciate the last two units, especially the last one. So that’s less than an order-of-magnitude below the 2011 plan.
Is this the luminosity of ATLAS separately, and CMS has the same thing as a bonus? I guess it is.
Yes, this is the luminosity in ATLAS, CMS and LHCb individually. ALICE is deliberately working with a lower luminosity at present.
With regard to the amount required to reach the 2011 target we must remember that luminosity decreases from this peak over the run and there are breaks to refill and for regular maintenance. So they need peak luminosities at least around 3/fb/year or 100/μb/s. The plan is to run with 796 bunches which should exceed the requirement by a small factor.
Thanks for the numbers! BTW what do you find wrong about WordPress? All WordPress blogs work for me. But your URL on Twitter has a wrong character instead of the period before “org”.
wordpress.com and their hosted blogs including this one were down for a few minutes. Everything is back up now.
Others had tweeted about it so it was not just my typo
Note update to post
Update: they went down for another hour after that comment!
Yes, now I caught the black moment, too. Watts Up With That says that they’re down and it’s probably Matt’s fault.
